Online service terms and conditions

COVIDprog is an online service of the COVIDprog study available free of charge implemented by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and Negen Oy.

The COVIDprog online service is maintained by Negen Oy together with the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (hereinafter referred to as ‘the service provider’). Registration is required for the use of certain features of the online service. By registering with the service, the user confirms that they are aware of these Terms and Conditions and committed to complying with them in using the service.

Service use

While the use of the contents of the COVIDprog online service for non-commercial purposes is permitted without a separate permission, the user must make reference to the content producer or right holder (THL). An exception to this is formed by the visual materials and other protected materials included in the online service. The protected materials may include materials subject to an industrial design right, copyright protection or a patent. The visual or protected materials may not be stored, distributed or copied without a separate permit.

Users may not upload materials contrary to law or the accepted principles of morality to the COVIDprog online service. This includes any materials including expressions, writings or presentations which feature racism or violations of human dignity or protection of privacy. Maintaining the COVIDprog online service reserves the right to withdraw any material which is contrary to law or the accepted principles of morality.

The COVIDprog online service contains links and connections to third party websites. The terms and conditions of these third-party operators are applied on their websites.

User rights and responsibilities

Users must provide the required registration information when signing up with the service. The contact details provided by the user are not disclosed to third parties. The COVIDprog online service shall operate as required by law in processing and registering personal data. See Description of Personal Data File.

Any content that users include in the service is confidential information. This includes user register data and health data.

Users are responsible to service use that occurs through the Suomi.fi identification service. Users are entitled to request the deletion of their user accounts.

The users are not entitled to publish any personal information or contact information pertaining to another person.

The users are responsible for the contents and format of the data they submit to the service.

By uploading or entering contents to the COVIDprog service, the user accepts that the uploaded or entered contents may be freely utilised in the COVIDprog study.

Service provider’s rights and responsibilities

The service provider has the right to delete from the service contents in contradiction to these Terms and Conditions. These include materials which feature racism or violations of human dignity or protection of privacy. If a user repeatedly violates the Terms and Conditions, the service provider may ban the user from the online service for a fixed period or permanently. In case of an exceptionally serious violation of the Terms and Conditions, the service provider is entitled to ban a user without notice.

The service provider is responsible for the content of the online service and its correctness only with regard to content produced by the service provider itself. The service provider shall not be held liable for any direct or indirect damage caused by using or interpreting the information in the online service.

The service provider shall not be held liable for any direct or indirect damage caused to users or third parties because of any errors or shortcomings in the online service. The service provider shall also not be held liable for the content, materials or services of any third-party websites to which there are links in the online service.

The service provider shall not be responsible for interruptions in the availability of the service due, for instance, to maintenance, technical problems or similar reasons, or to disruptions in telecommunications or Internet connections. The service provider shall not be held liable for any damages that may be caused through either the operations or the unavailability of the online service. All rights in the computer software used belong to their respective licence holders.

Cookies and collecting other visitor data

The service provider may collect information for instance on how and when the online service is being used, including from which website the user has come to the online service or which browser the user is using. Such collected information is anonymous and not linked to any individual user. The purpose of collecting such information is to analyse how the online service is being used and thereby harness it to better serve users.

Changing the functions of the online service

The service provider is entitled to change the content and functionality of the online service and to amend these terms and conditions of use if necessary for improving the service or some other reason. The service provider is entitled to add sections to, remove sections from, or edit sections in, the online service and to discontinue the service in part or in full. Whenever reasonably possible, the service provider aims to announce service disruptions and changes to be made to the service that are relevant for users in advance through the online service itself or in some other way considered feasible.

Resolution of disputes

Any disputes arising from the use of the online service shall principally be resolved by negotiation between the parties. If agreement cannot be reached, the dispute shall be submitted to the Helsinki District Court to be resolved according to Finland's legislation.
